Park with Matt

This is a shot Matt took of me. I was showing him how to use the grass for a creative shot. Also how to use selective focus.

Late night city adventures

Went to the city with some friends from the photography club i joined recently! We were supposed to doing long exposure shots of the city lights along the river. But i cbf'd with landscape and did portraiture instead!

None of these are edited.

Model: Pearl

I like how the light source if from directly above her in this photo. Usually i dont like that. I hate midday sun for shooting, because it makes the eye sockets turn into dark shadows, and the lighting is not very flattering altogether.

Shooting while the sun is going down in the late afternoon, is interesting because you get some awesome contrast between shadows on the face. But also annoying because everytime i change my angle on the subject, i have to change ALL my settings again. (I use my camera on manual 99.9% of the time, unless its a candid shot 0.01%).

This is not a very flattering photo of me (on of the reasons i dislike flash - its too harsh and highlights flaws very sharply, even with a diffuser), but ive put it up to show the amazing bokeh city lights produce!! Bokeh is my best friend.

Da piano

I havent had piano lessons for 6 or 7 years now. But i still played old songs i knew from time to time.
I found this song called Piano Variation in Blue from the Finding Neverland soundtrack and i am going to discipline myself to learn it!

Sorry about such an underexposed photo. It isnt edited. Just a spur of the moment thing. Heres another dark photo.

Manicure the french way

Not much to say, everyone knows how to do a french manicure. Its basically three simple steps, plus a technique for the brush strokes.
You dont need long nails to do this. Just a few millimetres of white nail, will do just fine.

First of all you need this:

French white, french pink, and french finish.

You need to paint a strip of white at the top of your nails in a very faint shape of a half moon. You can pain below the white of your nails, onto the pink, to give the illusion of longer white nails.
Once this had dried (I find the manicare french set to very quick drying), apply a coat to the whole nail, over the white. Make sure its not too think, nor too thin. It must spread evenly and neatly. Then once this had dried apply the french polish over the top. Done!

Here is the finished product:

Very sorry about the poor image quality. I took these photos with my mobile phone. Next time i will use my dslr for more detail!

Mums old clothes

Today i raided my mums closet for bits and pieces.

Lovely chiffon silk top (to wear over a singlet top or something).

Chiffon silk black polka dot top with pussy bow.

She then came and helped me! I have now inherited a whole heap of old fashioned clothes from my mum's younger days.

High waisted pencil skirts of every colour that used to belong to my mum. Her waist was tiny so i have a hard time fitting into these. They are tailor made, and a very nice cut :).

Ive been wearing them to work.

My autumn essentials

Feeling a tad guilty about going shopping. But I know ill wear these over and over again. So i guess its work it.

Dotti long sleeve patterned chiffon silk blouse. Its got interesting ruched shoulder things.

Dotti grey wool and cotton blazer. Its SO warm and comfy. Ive already worn this heaps. Really really comfy.

These arent new. But i really like these scarves. One of them was $5 at Rivers, and the red one i stole off my ex boyfriend when we were dating. They are always warm and comfy and non scratchy! Plus, these kinda scarves actually keep me warm compared to other fashionable scarves which dont.
