Clothes, curls, connie, parties and technology

Ive got a few personal updates to talk about, now that the majority of viewers after my photography can be directed to either my tumblr, or my website. (Links to the right).

I like to be somewhat organised, so heres what i will be talking about:
1. Winter attire
2. Connie from K is for Kani
3. Curlformers
4. Party
5. Dagi vs Dagi (P501, P503, P504, P601)

Im currently loving anything high wasited, or tucked in. It just makes everything SO comfortable! I dont think ive worn my jeans AT ALL in the past few months.

Sorry this photo isnt edited or colour corrected at all!! This burgundy cardigan was not cheap, but ive been wearing it heeeaps. If i divide the price, by the number of times ive worn it, it works out to be around around $10... this makes me feel a slightly better about justifying the price. Its definitely my favourite cardi.
You cant really see my shirt, but i got it at a vintage stall at the market for about 5 bucks. My tights are also new, from southland!
Heres me wearing vintage. I picked up this vintage shirt for 5 bucks at the opshop near my uni. I didnt even try it on, i just bought it hoping it would fit! I had seen a mustard jumper in the window the day before, but someone bought it before i could get to it! So i got this instead. Im really happy with it, even though i have a very similar shirt in chiffon with a pussy bow. The cardigan (not shown) is vintage from a market, and ive never found an opportunity to wear until now! My boots are also vintage off ebay for $10 including shipping, but the laces broke and the soles fell off, so after all the repair they probably cost me more like $50. But i dont mind because i really love these boots and ive been wearing them everywhere! They are SO comfy with socks. The sheer flower tights are also new, from the same place in southland!
I guess im interested in vintage at the moment, cause of my friend Connie, who runs a vintage fashion blog, K is for Kani

 All photos are edited :)
We were walking around the park with bags of clothes... it was really freaking heavy and clumsy! And the ground was muddy :( I hate mud. But i got some great shots so it was worth it. I gotta say Connie is one the most funny, cute, down to earth and humblest people ever.
Bubble magic :) Thats my vintage shirt that Connie is wearing! Im also wearing it in the very first photo of this post. The cloche hat is also mine :) Everyone loves it. I find its the best thing to wear when i havent done my hair.
Curlformers are what ive been using to curl my hair lately! Everyone who knows me knows im always looking for new ways to style my hair without heat. I got these curlers off ebay, and they werent cheap but they work well. Ill sum up my findings in bullet points:
Pros:
- THEY WORK!!!!
- The curls turn out PERFECTLY defined every single time
- Heat free
- Hair feels soft and healthy, not wiry or frizzy (like you get with heated curlers)
Cons:
- They are not easy to put in and take awhile
- Putting them in can sometime hurt because the hair snags
- They take quite a long time to dry (usually minimum 3-4 hours, i sleep in mine)
- Without hairspray, they drop quite quickly
- These are NOT comfortable to sleep in!

I have quite thick hair, so mine takes ages to dry. Ive been sleeping in these and taking them out the next morning. They force me to get out of bed as soon as i wake up because i cant stand the discomfort! I get very tight, bouncy ringlets, which drop by the end of the day if i leave them, or i use a water spray to soften them into waves. I try not to use hairspray as i find this makes them feel dry and wiry.
I might post a photograph of the results in a later post.

I didnt get any photographs from Razans bday at Bridey O'Reileys because i didnt bring my camera (really regret that, i wish i had brought it!), but i took my camera to Aidans and got some funny shots. Mostly of Aidans disgusting beard being shaved off bit by bit.
Heres a cool photo i took of the streamers some guys from the party tied from one end of the street, to the other end of the street. Then we watched as cars slowed down and got confused. Hehehe.

Lastly, Im getting a Dagi stylus for my ipad, so i can take better notes in class than my crappy homemade aluminium stylus. Just which model to get remains the question.... I shan't put my whole rant here, but look out for a review later on! But i think im gonna get P601, and P504. I just want P504 to come with a lid, otherwise it looks so fragile :S

A couple from various shoots

Model: Olivia
This was for her actress portfolio :)
Model: Brittany

Im the middle of developing a flash website for my photography! Its looking pretty snazzy so far.

Also lately i photographed my friend Connie from K is for Kani, the fashion blog. I gotta say... this girl is the most humble, down to earth, sweetest cutest person ever!!! Also incredibly photogenic. I got some amazing shots of bubbles and balloons.

Talia

Talia is super pretty and photogenic. She looks like a cross between Audrey Hepburn (when shes serious) and Rachel McAdams (when shes smiling). Thats gotta be like... the best combination ever.
As per usual, i did her hair. It was originally short and straight, but i curled the back, and pinned it under, and then worked on a boofy, curly fringe.
No one pulls off red liptstick like Talia does. It looks so good on her.
Shes also a ballet dancer. Which is awesome. I love photographing dancers because they have great knowledge of their body angles. As well as all their graceful movements as they pose, which makes me feel like a total klutz with my chunky camera, tripping over studio wires and equipment, walking into umbrellas and accidentally poking holes in the backdrop.

The best of today and yesterday

Model: Freya Bennett. Photo in sepia with my mini vintage chair. I looooveee this photo. She looks soo pretty! She looks like someone out of a Jane Austen novel/movie.
Hair was done by me, inspired by Allie from The Notebook.
Absolutely love the fringe.
Another photo with my mini vintage chair. Model: Ashika. Check out her shoes... :D
The dress was seriously amazing. Hair done by me! If theres one thing i love more than taking all these photos, its the opportunity to play with everyones hair...
Black and white photos. Freya has AWESOME eyebrows. Best eyebrows ive ever seen. Lol what a random thing to notice...
I love the expression of this photo. These black and white photos were supposed to be my 'take' on a high fashion editorial type look/style.
I love this photo of Freya! Another editorial attempt. I reckon it worked out alright! Man i love that bow.

White backdrop in the portable studio

Yay hello. I am really happy today because i got a new white background for the club portable studio. Im having a hard time dealing with the stubborn paper. But its so worth it. The images are a million times better than that grey cloth...
Only thing is, im using it on carpet, so its really delicate to step on, and wearing shoes on it is almost impossible.
Thumbs up-ing the new backdrop :D
Btw... that is a tiny little camera necklace i am wearing... my new favourite accessory.

As always, i curled my hair using no heat. Using these wacky new things i got called 'curlformers'. Theyre awesome, but quite expensive for little rolls of rubber. Ill do a post on them later.

I have ALOT of shoots coming up over the next few days. All the models ive chosen (out of 200+ applications! wow) have great potential, so hopefully ill get some wonderful shots. Ive also got sooooo much stuff to do before uni resumes! I have no idea how im going to complete it all in time :P

Photoshoot with my sister

I did my sisters hair and makeup. She has nice, healthy, undamaged hair so i decided to curl it instead of using my rollers like i usually would. Tied two ponytails, and stuck in a couple of bobby pins. Easy stuff! Nothing as hard as my braided buns...
I really hate this backdrop. SO many creases. It took my an hour to iron this 3 x 11m piece of shit. And it was still full of ripples. Thank god we're getting a new one in a couple of days!

Im fully booked with photoshoots from Thursday onwards. Dont know where im going to find the time to edit... Will be posting up pics.
Im hoping i can get involved with hair and makeup, but i dont think ill have much time to. Some of my upcoming days, i have two shoots in one day :S

Mt Dandenong shoot

I went up to Mt Dandenong with my sister because she was shooting her Year 12 VCE Media film there. I took some behind the scenes shots, and also some model shots of the actress.
